Yesterday we went to Medieval Times for Drew's 9th birthday. It was a huge success. He invited his cousin and his best friend to joined us for the event. This was his first time going. We were rooting for the yellow knight, but unfortunately he didn't win this one. We had great seats without buying the birthday package and I got the tickets on the BOGO deal. They were given $20 to spend at the gift shop and they all selected $10 wooded swords, so with the rest I was able to buy Drew the announcement and the "knighting" activity with his picture and a scroll. He thought he was hot stuff. To top it all off, the boys were perfectly behaved and seemed to be inthralled with all of the activity. We did all of that $5.25 under budget! I felt like such a great mom walking out of there. We got home around ten o'clock. I immediately put them to bed and bribed them with a treasure box toy (yes, it still works at nine) if they all went to bed nicely. They did. BUT at 3 o'clock in the morning, Matt woke up to swords wacking together. When one wakes up, apparently they all wake up. They were put back to bed and then they woke up at 6:30 or so.
The morning went well and then we were ready to start our day. Brenden went home and after a few errands we met up with my sister in laws and my mother in law for lunch and swimming. The boys swam their tails and off and I could tell they were tires because tempers soared and short temperments were in place. At about 4:14 we went home and on the way up the hill the boys fell asleep. They've been asleep ever since. I had a quiet evening with Matt at school and the boys asleep, but what do I do when they wake up? It's 8:30.....this has never happened before. Do I feed them and put them to bed? Do I let them stay up? For how long? I know some of you may be thinking...we'll they are nine and six... they can stay up! Just cause they're older doesn't mean they've changed much from when they were babies. They still need routine or their world (and mine) gets turned upside down the next day. I guess I'll learn something new tonight.
Feed them, let them camp out in the living room for a movie, and then off to bed again for them. I think I would be tempted to sleep on the couch because goodness knows I don't stay awake that late! I have only had a handful of nights like that, but holy cow did I get a lot done!
ReplyDeleteSooo, what'd you end up doing?
