The Great Commandment

"Love your neighbor as yourself"...."WHAT!" I thought to myself as I was sitting there. See we moved in to this neighborhood about 7 months ago and didn't receive a warm welcome. Another reminder for me that I live in a bubble and I like my bubble. Not everyone is warm and friendly like my friends at work and at church.

To welcome us to the neighborhood we received a letter in the mail with BTW no return address that asked us to STOP parking my sister's truck in front of their properties. Ok, understandable...easy to fix, but I just didn't think that was a great way to welcome us to the neighborhood. So now it's been this long and not a "hi" or a "bye" when we see each other. So today when I was in church this whole situation popped into my mind. Now I feel challenged to make it at least friendly and maybe we can say "hello" and "goodbye" or "have a nice day". Who knows...I pray for courage to be able to go introduce myself and bring them cookies or something.

We're off to Big Sur for a few days. I'll come back with lots of pictures.

  1. Do it!! bake some cookies. I was thinking that we've lived here now about 4 months and we have NEVER met the neighbors. We went out on a walk the other night and met a bunch of them just walking around. So give that a try!
