Drew made it to camp
Saturday night/Sunday morning at 12:30 am, Drew came into our room saying he was "hot." He also said he had stomach cramps. He had already stripped down into his undies when he came in. Matt worked a 24 hour shift so I was on my own. A little background: My boys hardly ever get sick. They didn't miss a day of school last year due to sickness. I am used to sleeping all night without getting disturbed. This was very out of the ordinary for him. I immediately felt him and he was so hot he felt like the toaster does when it just finished toasting something. I took his temp and it was 102 degrees. He was supposed to leave for church camp that afternoon at 2:00. I gave him Tylenol, hoping that would do the trick. He's been looking forward to camp for weeks now. Well the Tylenol did take the fever down, but it slowly came back about every 6-8 hours. I took him into the doctor and he said he probably had a stomach virus. He said he couldn't go to camp until the stomach cramps and the fever went away. He was sooo bummed. The day went by and he still didn't feel well. I woke up this morning at 2:15 am to check on him and take his temperature and it was 102 again. I thought he was doomed, but lucky for him, he bounces back like a rubberband and he was good to go by 12:15 this afternoon. He's there and hardly said goodbye to me...he's growing up and it's exciting to see. I'm so proud of him.
